The easiness of this recipe may fool you into thinking these sandwiches aren’t that great. But no! Never underestimate the powers of an easy recipe well made! 😉 Juicy and bursting with flavor, these sandwiches will beg you to make them again, and again, and again…
This is another one of those mysterious recipes in our collection…it’s just written down on an index card. I have no idea where in the world we got it from. So if you’re the one that made it and you happen to be reading this–special thanks to you! 🙂 Get the printable version below:
- 2-5 lb. roast
- 1 tsp. EACH salt, pepper, oregano, basil, onion salt, parsley, and garlic powder
- 3 c. water
- 1 packet (or 2 TBSP homemade; click here to get the recipe) Italian dressing mix
- Cheese (optional)
- Pickled pepper rings (optional)
Step one: OK, this probably shouldn’t even qualify to be in a step by itself, but place the roast in the crock pot.
Next, mix all your spicy goodness with the water in a saucepan, and bring to a boil.
Once it’s boiling, take the pan off the stove and pour the whole thing over the roast.
Pop the lid on, and let it stew on low for 10-12 hours, or on high for 4-5 hours.
When time’s up, carefully pull the monster out onto a cutting board and let it rest for about 10 minutes to let the juices reabsorb. Then, carve it up!
Once it’s sliced, throw it back in the pot for about 30 minutes (to achieve ultimate flavor experience); and it’s ready to go!
Lay a couple slices on a roll, followed up by your favorite cheese, and maybe some pickled peppers…and take a bite! ❤ Happiness guaranteed.
